Airport car park to double in size

Blackpool Airport plans to double the size of its terminal car park. Up to 15 days free airport parking was introduced for passengers in January when the hub brought in a £10 per passenger development fee. Extra parking is now needed as the scheme has been so successful.
The car park will be extended near to the Westgate end of the airport from its current 485 spaces to 985 spaces. Extra flights are also being sought for the Squires Gate hub, which is reported to have suffered a 70% drop in passengers so far this year, after losing a number of routes including from budget airline Ryanair in protest at the fee.
