Management at Blackpool Airport are stepping up their campaign to secure the reintroduction of flights to London. A spokesman said that talks are going on with a number of airlines, whilst locals have deluged them with letters and e-mails asking for a new link to the capital. He added that a new service could be in place as soon as next summer.
More than half a million people used Ryanair's twice daily flights between Blackpool and Stansted before they were axed this year. Now, in a bid to attract a new airline, the airport is asking travellers what they want from the service. An online survey, running on the airport's website, is part of a concerted campaign to convince a new airline to step in and link Blackpool to London.
