New airport boss wants London flights

The new boss at Blackpool Airport, David Kershaw, just a few days into his job, already has a long list of things to do. He joined the airport as chief executive from Servisair, where he held the position of executive vice-president for the UK. And getting a link back with London is at the very top of his list.
It has been over 4 months since no-frills airline Ryanair scrapped its daily Stansted flights. However, with new flights to Ibiza already promised for next summer, he has said that his priority is to regain a link to the capital.
He said: 'The loss of the Stansted route was a real blow. There are conversations going on with a number of airlines who are interested in taking up the route. It is a case of finding who has got the right support in place to take it on.'
The airport recently launched its masterplan project with the aim of bringing more than two million passengers through its departure lounge over the next 12 months. Part of the plan has already reached fruition with the existing terminal undergoing a £1m revamp - including a new lounge, 14 departures desks and shops and cafes.
