Airport boss to leave
14.06.09
The boss at Blackpool Airport, David Kershaw, who became chief executive 2 years ago, is to leave the post the Gazette reports. The move comes just months after he brought in a controversial £10 departure tax on passengers (and free airport parking).
In a statement to the Gazette, Mr Kershaw said: ‘I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at Blackpool Airport and I'm very proud of what we have achieved in a relatively short period of time. I remain passionate about the opportunities for growth and success for the airport. In a challenging economic climate, Blackpool Airport, like many regional airports, has been through a difficult period. But it is well positioned to take full advantage of the economic upturn.’
A spokesman for airport owners Balfour Beatty said: ‘The decision has been entirely amicable, and as such an official leaving date has yet to be determined. Under David's leadership, the airport has achieved a great deal, and all concerned will be sorry to see him leave.'
