Blackpool airport owners looking to buy Exeter airport
15.11.05
Blackpool Airport owners, City Hopper, are thought to be closing in on the sale of Exeter airport - the South West's largest regional airport.
Exeter Airport - home to fast growing no-frills airline Flybe and one of the UK's most rapidly growing airports - is at the centre of a £100m takeover bid by City Hopper. Exeter is back in the market after Australian airports giant Macquarie pulled out, following a referral of the sale to the competition commission.
Paul Whelan, executive chairman of City Hopper, said: 'We are very close to a decision on the sale of Exeter Airport. We have been in discussion for several months are we are expecting an announcement very soon.'
