As thousands of travellers prepare to take-off from Blackpool Airport this summer, the county's business development group - Lancashire Economic Partnership (LEP) - has is trying to use the airport in a bid to attract inward investment to the county.
The LEP promotes economic growth and prosperity throughout the county and is responsible for delivering the Central Lancashire City Region Development Programme. It hopes to use Blackpool's 'Gateway to Lancashire' terminal as the flagship for economic growth in the region.
Huge advertisements are set to dominate the check-in desks at the airport promoting Lancashire's quality of life and great physical diversity with areas of outstanding natural beauty close to interesting places to visit.
The airport is also embarking on a study to assess the current and potential impact and provide a set of recommendations to the LEP. The partnership will use this as part of the key strategies for the future.
