Three months of roadworks near Blackpool airport start tomorrow
One of Blackpool's busiest road junctions could be set for more congestion when workmen move in next week. The junction of Squires Gate Lane, St Annes Road and Amy Johnson Way in South Shore - near Blackpool airport - will see major overhauls begin from Monday, with mork set to last for more than 3 months - until the end of May.
The work includes resurfacing, an upgrade of traffic lights, better lighting and improved pedestrian facilities. Transport chiefs say an increase in use of the Business Park - plus the expansion of Blackpool Airport - is the reason behind this essential work. Temporary traffic lights will be put in place while it is being carried out.
