New summer bus service for Blackpool airport

Passengers arriving at Blackpool Airport are to benefit from a new open-top bus service. Blackpool Transport Services is launching the summer service in response to the increase in tourist traffic to and from the airport.
Until now, the airport has not been served by public transport. Passengers are forced to take a cab or use bus stops on Squires Gate Lane to connect from the airport to local destinations. But this is set to change next week when the airport gets a dedicated bus service.
Red open-top buses will operate on the new Line 1 route from the Air Balloon pub near the airport terminal, along Blackpool Promenade to Cleveleys. The new bus service will run every 20 minutes from 09:20 until 18:00 from May 29 to November 4, worked by open top buses, weather permitting. An evening service will run every 20 minutes until 23:00 from July 24 to September 3.
Oliver Howarth, business development manager at Blackpool Transport, said: 'The buses will pass by all the principal hotels in Blackpool as well as Pontins holiday camp and will travel as far down the coast as Cleveleys. The maximum adult single fare is just £2 making it great value and fun.'
