Airport backs super-casino bid
26.11.06
Blackpool Airport spokesman Gareth Kennedy said that tourists would 'flock' to Blackpool if the city it won the race to build the UK's first super-casino. '[The super casino] will have a huge impact on Blackpool,' he said.
Kennedy pointed out that currently 30-40 percent of airline traffic is made up of tourists arriving at the city, and called it a 'taste of what the casino would bring.' He said: 'Already, we think that we are different to other regional airports; we are not sending all our traffic to Spain.'
The airport is currently planning to build new terminals to accommodate the 3 million customers it expects to attract in the next 15 - 20 years.
