Ryanair flight diverted over fire engine problem

Blackpool Airport has apologised to passengers after a Ryanair flight was diverted to Liverpool yesterday due to a problem with an airport fire engine. In addition to the problems for inbound passengers, around 100 outbound passengers were grounded by the problem, facing a 24 hour delay.
The plane from Dublin was diverted to Liverpool yesterday afternoon following the breakdown of a fire engine airside at the airport. This left the passengers wanting to travel outbound on the 16:30 flight requiring overnight accommodation before travelling on today's flight to the Irish capital.
A spokesman for Blackpool Airport said: ‘We apologise for any inconvenience caused to these passengers. This was not an emergency and no-one was at risk. The airport's fire engine suffered a technical glitch and we were unable to remove it, meaning we had to divert both inbound and outbound flights. Another fire engine was available should a problem have occurred.’
